Pots are wheel thrown of stoneware and sometimes porcelain. Traditional high fire glazes like celadon, tenmoku, copper red, and magnesia mattes are still of interest, though often modified with materials such as a slip clay found near the SilverLake (Los Angeles) reservoir near me. I use a highly textured earthenware clay for larger, non-functional vessel forms.
IRecent re-find from out in the market. Early 1964 piece by me just before I began to work at Architectural pottery. One of the pieces I showed to David Cressey to get the job. I see I'm back to putting rough stuff on the surface of pots 62 years later. Really vintage pot, contact me if interested.
